Colby Sherwin

Musician + Storyteller + Teacher

Biography

Colby Sherwin is a devoted musician and music educator who has experience in performance, composition, ensemble leadership, concert/stage management, administration, recording production, and community engagement.

He plays drums in various jazz groups throughout Greater Boston and also spends time and energy on saxophone, guitar, keyboard, and voice.

While attending Salem State University for both Business Administration and Music Performance, Sherwin began what would become a long and enduring journey with musician and mentor, Tony Wolff. Through these regular lessons Colby builds upon his ear training, rhythmic conception, and story-telling abilities across a wide variety of instruments.

He teaches independent and group lessons, working in various educational environments such as collegiate-level summer programs and ensembles with a specialization in one-on-one instruction.

Colby now seeks to unite communities through the experience of music. Playing often in public settings to promote access to live music has allowed for him to spread the message on how valuable listening to each other is in today’s world.

We need to be compassionate and understanding for the sake of our communities, our planet, and ourselves.
